The neutral colored wolf reached the top of the ridge and looked at the valley below. She saw rivers, and plants, trees, perfect place for prey. And she needed food badly. It wasn't that she couldn't hunt, it was just that she had just traveled over mountains that only a very few wolves have ever been able to cross alive, and the only things in the mountains were fast and agile mountain goats, and a few stringy mice. Laikia looked back behind her at the Lycoris tower and wondered the stories that she was told when she was young were true, that the first wolf who climbed it would instantly become the leader of an unstoppable pack, but she had no desire to climb that deadly mountain, she'd rather get smashed by a boulder, she thought, with a smirk on her face. She would hate being the leader of a pack, and would much rather kill herself in the most painful way that excisted, than become hungry for power and think you're better than everyone else. She knew how leaders were, all of them, so she thought. The only leader she had ever had had killed the only wolf she had ever loved, or that had loved her, just because he felt like she wasn't doing enough for the pack. Laikia howled to the snow cloud covered moon, warning the world that a new wolf would be around, and she didn't want any company, nor would she ever, and this is how her story begins.

The red furred wolf perked his head listening to the howl. He had climbed the mountain about a year ago and soon found many animals to business with. In fact at this moment he was talking to a deer about food and where to find it. Rade smirked remembering how everyone he talked to before he had cross the mountain thought there was barely any food up here. He excused himself from the frightened but brave dear to be talking to a wolf and headed to the location where the howl was made. He soon realized that it was at the ridge and made his way up. He soon found who he was looking for and made mental notes on what power the wolf was capable of or how much the have been eating. He grinned and did a slight bow making his way to the front of the wolf "Welcome to the valley of who cares. I am Rade and will be in charge of explaining on how things are run in this peaceful little valley. Oh but of course where are my manners? Who might you be brave young wolf." First impressions are truly the most important, Rade thought to himself still grinning.

Laikia cocked an eyebrow and stopped growling at the strange wolf. " I'm Laikia, and if you knew what's best for you, you wouldn't treat me like I'm a stupid pup. Will you please go away, I want nothing to do with you, dearest Rade." she said sneering. She bolted down the ridge and into the valley. She stopped at a small stream and drank, hoping that Rade wasn't fool enough to follow her. She didn't trust him at all. She lifted her head, and perked up her ears. Hearing nothing out of the ordinary, Laikia trotted off to where she smelled fresh deer. She soon found the deer, and after a rather short fight, the doe looked like she was tired, and somehow crazy, Laikia ate her catch happily.

Rade tilted his head to the side "I that was uncalled for but as a wolf of business I must explain the rules." he said trotting into the directon where Liakia ran off to. He soon caught her smell in the wind and followed in the direction of it. He soon found her eatong a deer which just so happened to be one of his clients. "That was rude of you but I will let it slide. Anyways it appears you have learned the first rule of business "Don't trust anyone even if you have known them your whole life." he said quoting the laws of business. He then started pacing "Now what brings you to this little valley?" he asked her.

"Why would I need to know the rules of buisness? Anyways, I already know that rule, it is the basis of my life, if you ever trust anyone, they'll turn their back on you and cause you pain." Laikia said, finishing her meal. I came here to get away from my past, it's full of dissapointments." She said, answering his question. " What do you want with me anyways, sorry, but I'm not for sale.." She said, jokingly.

Rade grinned and stopped pacing "Well first my dear the rules of business is what makes the world go round. They make sure everything is balanced and that revenge or avoiding having to get revenge is possible. Second I only want to make sure you don''t eat another one of my clients," he said looking at what was left of the deer "So basically any animals on the west of the valley you can eat freely but on the east side you cannot eat anyone. Well unless it's a bird...Darn annoying tricksters." he said saying the last part mainly to himself. "You can do whatever you want but if you need anything you can come for me and I wont charge you since you are looking to get away from the rest of the world. I am usually at the bottom of the mountain if you need me or if you want to gamble on the war going on with the packs a little ways from here." he said loving to gamble. Heck it was his name and his reputation.

" There's a war going on? Between what, wolves?" the grey wolf said, sounding interested. " Oh, and sure, I won't eat any of your...uh..clients..." she said, her eyes exploring her surroundings. She picked up a large scrap of meat and held it infront of Rade. " Here, if you tell me what I want to know, you'll get some breakfast..."

Rade took the meat and ate some of it. "Good. There are three main packs..." he went on on how they were fighting. He also told her about the prophecy and what has been happening lately. By the time he finished it was sunset and most of the animals were going to their home. It was quiet out and the wind was dead. "Any questions? Oh and if you were worried about where you would stay you can stay with me the first night." he said yawning "Even though this is a nice valley there are some ignorant fools who like to cause trouble and get into fights especially at night. Of course this is up to you and I would understand if you decline this offer." he said truthfully.

" Uh..sure.." Laikia replied, rather taken back by his question, seeing as she had been so rude to him on purpose, and she knew that she had to pay a price for this kindness somehow, judging from the character of this wolf. " So, what am I going to have to pay for such a....generous offer? I'm sure you don't ask just everyone if they'd like to stay in a nice warm cave..." she said, suddenly realizing something. " Wait- you must belong to a pack or something, and I want nothing to do with packs, so, thanks for...doing buisness with me, but I'll have to decline your offer..." Laikia said as she started to walk away.

Rade started laughing "My dear I do not belong to any pack now nor have I have for the last few years." he ran up to her "Also this is a no charge day since you are new to the valley." he added. He grinned "You are right I rarely do this but I rarely you come upon a wolf like yourself. If I were you I would take such a rare offer like this especially if it is free." he said to her a small breeze picking up and moving his fur. "Just so you know, since you are a fellow wolf, I am a excellent business wolf but I can also be a excellent friend if you want me to be one." he said to her kindly but serious.

Laikia smiled back at Rade, not sure how to answer. " I'm not sure if I can trust anyone, but I'll give you a chance, everyone atleast deserves that." Laikia gently pushed Rade and said, " So where is this home of yours...oh and before I forget, thanks." Laikia said, giving the red wolf's ear a quick lick. She wasn't completely sure that she could trust him, but she had nothing to lose anyways, so she waited for his reply.

Rade smiled "Follow me." he said heading toward the base of the mountain. He took his usual route saying hi to a couple of clients and got there in less then ten minutes. Up ahead was a good sized cave protected by trees and rocks. He found it unoccupied when he first got here and fell in love with it the second he went inside. "Here is my beautiful cave." he said motioning to it with his head.

Laikia entered the cave and walked around with an awestruck look on her face. " You're able to keep this all to yourself- and no packs try and take it from you or anything? I mean, I don't think that you singlehandedly could drive off a whole pack of wolves from your territory- no offence or anything...it's beautiful." She finished, realizing that she was talking to fast. " Well, it is kinda hard to find..but still." Laikia said quietly, still exploring the cave.

Rade grinned "There aren't any packs that come here. They think this valley is full of small hunt when it is the exact opposite." he said looking around at his cave. "If a pack does come here I will work with a couple of clients to get them out of here." he said sitting down. "Oh, and there is some food in the back of the cave if you get hungry." he added proud of himself.

Laikia smiled and said, " I just ate, remember? I kinda need some time to rest, I've been traveling for months now over those mountains." Laikia said. She added something after that, but the only word audible was, "Rocks." The grey wolf hoped that it would be okay that she slept, but didn't have a chance to ask, because as soon as she hit the floor, ((Ow.)) she was asleep.

A few hours later, Laikia woke up, and stretched her legs. She looked over at Rade, and saw that he was asleep, but then looked again, and saw that he was actually awake. " Hey Rade, howabout showing me those packs you were talking about, I'd like to see them..or atleast one of them..." she said, smiling. She stood up and shook herself till all of the dust had been removed from her coat. She walked over to the cave entrance and breathed in the fresh winter air.

Rade mumbled something and got up. He stretched and then yawned. "Sure, but it will take a little while to get there. I beliieve two of the packs are at Sunset Meadow right now. We should leave early so we get there while they are still talking about teaming up." he said walking up to her with a big slab of meat in his mouth. He dropped it in front of her "We should eat and then leave for the Meadow." he said moving near her.

Laikia nodded and thanked Rade for the food and ate her portion of it. " Well, what are we waiting for, Sunset Meadow, here we come!" Laikia said, her tail wagging slightly. She walked outside of the cave, and then moved over to a puddle. After drinking up some tasty water, Laikia quickly washed her fur, then walked back over to the cave entrance and waited for Rade.

Rade nodded and walked out of the. "Try to keep up." he said and then ran through the forest. He dodged trees and anything else in his way but also made sure Laikia was keeping up. He continued at a steady pace for about thirty minutes constantly looking over his shoulder to see if Laikia was still there. A little over an hhour and they were at a hill over looking Sunsett Meadow. He saw the two packs and made his way slowly to them so he could hear better. (( We should start posting in Sunsett Meadow now ))

( After this post) Laikia looked down the ridge and snuck slowly behind a bush. Her tail wagged slowly, showing her exitement, and she positioned herself downwind of the other wolves. " So, which pack is which....and uh, which are the leaders?" Laikia whispered to Rade. She was a little nervous about being spotted, but she knew how to talk her way out of it, and she knew that Rade did too. She tried to make out what the wolves were saying, but could hear only mumbling. " Come on, lets try and get closer." Laikia suggested, still whispering. She slunk over to a nearer bush, and listened. She could hear what the wolves were saying, and nodded to Rade.

Laikia laid down well out of Rebel territory and steadied her breathing. " That was sure exciting and suspenceful." She said to Rade, her tail wagging slightly. " Thank you for showing me around." She said, smiling. She forced her legs to support her as she stood up, and she slunk into the shadows. She had scented something, and wanted to figure out what it was. She followed the scent until she came across a ptarmigan stuck in a human trap. The bird was still wriggling, and wasn't quite dead yet- though it had severe injuries. The scent of humans frightened Laikia, but she lowered her head to the trap, and pulled out the ptarmigan. The bird flapped as hard as he could, but even if Laikia wasn't holding him between her jaws- he couldn'tve flown away. Laikia brought it back to Rade and set it down. " If it were able to survive- I'd let it free, but since there's no chance of it living, dig in." She said, her eyes slightly showing concern. " I wish humans would just leave us alone." She said mainly to herself as she started to eat the now dead bird. (( xD I didn't want to forget about them, so yah.))

Rade nodded his head thoughtful and swiftly killed the bird so it would't feel pain. He ate some for himself and after a few minutes started to lick his paws. He turned to Laika "Sooo who do you think is going to win this little fight. 65% of my clients are betting on Lunaris and Pyralis. Either way I'm going to get a lot of reputation for holding this little betting session." he said with a grin his eyes showing only mischeif "The great thing with war is that it has so many profits for someone who stays neutral." he added. (( Sadly that's true. Neutral countries in a war are all a bad word which I will not say. Then again they are genius's. *sigh* Nevermind it's kinda confusing to understand ))

Laikia smiled and nodded her head in agreement. " I'm gonna say the Rebels, just because the stories tell of an 'unstoppable pack' and if I don't, Daken might go psyco on me." She said, pawing her nose. " So, now what?" She aksed, her brown eyes shining mischeviously. The she-wolf stood and trotted around, wanting Rade to play with her. " I haven't played with another wolf since...- I can't remember when." She said, smiling as she took the wolf bowing position, showing that she wanted to play. She stuck out her tongue at Rade, and waited to see how he would react.

Rade grinned and his eyes flickered with mischief. "Well I know of this farmer who lives near by. He is very old and is slow for a human. When I get bored I usually go over for lunch since he has sooo much food." he said exaggerating the so in the sentence and he winked at her. "It's loads of fun." he said slightly pushing her into the direction of the farmer and he couldn't help but laugh at the memories of him running from the farmer. A bird chirped nearby and he looked up. "Not now I have important business to attend to." he said to the bird and whispered to Laikia "And that my dear is to entertain you with my full attention."

Laikia's eyes sparled with mischief and anticipation as she ran in the direction of the farmer, peering back every so often to look at Rade. She smiled at him, her banner of a tail waving high in the air. " I love being a loner and not having a pack...excpet- I like being a loner with you." She said, laughing at how funny that sounded. A sharp scent entered her nostrils, and her senses sharpened immediately. They were almost there, she could tell. She smelt lots of strange fragrances, most she had never sensed before, and she longed to sniff out the source of each one- but she refrained. She knew that they would have to be sneaky to get what they wanted. She hid behind a tall wood pile, and waited for Rade to follow suit. " Okay- what's the plan?" She asked, knowing that Rade was more experianced ad that he would enjoy thinking of a plan. She spotted the farmer sitting a few hundred feet away, and motioned to him so Rade would see him too.
