Silas cursed himself for not spotting them earlier, but then again he had not been in the area. At least I have something to tinker around with he thought a small grin on his face. Cain lifted his head to see the others coming "I have the schedule for who watches tonight," he said and then he waited for the others to come in closer "First shift is Ceris and Blaine, then Silas and Solora, after that I will do a shift, and last Tovan and Croire. The shifts will be two hours each. Any questions, comments, or concerns?" he asked and then noticed that Solora acted as if she had something heavy on her mind. "Is there something wrong?" he asked alert and he feared for the worst as he looked at each of member of his pack.

" Well, the shifts are perfectly fine, but I have some rather troubling news. I found human-made traps in the forest. They are old, and the stench of humans is almost nonexistant, but it's still unsettling. I have tought myself how to get rid of the threat of these traps, but I'd like to do it alone. Tomorrow, perferrably. My mother and one of my brothers were killed by traps, and it makes me very uncomfortable, and I'll feel much better once they are taken care of." Solora looked at Blaine, who was staring at her. She walked over to him, still seeing fear in his icy blue eyes. " I'm sorry.." She started, not daring to meet his gaze. " Solora- there's nothing to be sorry about- you saved my life." Solora looked up, and saw that the dark brown wolf was smiling. She smiled too, though halfheartedly. " Well, get some sleep. I've got first shift." Solora nodded at this, but was dissapointed that she wouldn't get to sleep near Blaine. Ceris was jumping up and down. " I'm watch- I'm watch!" Croire laughed at this. " I'm so jealous." His remark covered with sarcasm. He chuckled as he made his way into the cave, happy to be able to go to sleep. He laid down between Solora and Tovan, though not really near either of them. " Goodnight." He said, closing his yellow eyes. " Goodnight." Tovan replied, her eyes fixed on Cain as she tried to figure out why everyone looked so distraught. Except for Ceris- of course. The grey and white pup pranced around Blaine, a huge smile upon his face. " Shhh." Blaine said, his eyes sparkling. " You don't want to attract the night beasts." Ceris looked up at Blaine through concerened eyes of flame. " N-night beasts?" Blaine nodded. " Night beasts feed on loud wolf pups during the night, but as long as you're quiet and with an adult, you'll be safe." Ceris gulped, and moved nearer to Blaine.

"You may do it tomorrow." Cain said understanding Solora's situation perfectly. That must be a horrible way to die he thought as he laid down next to Tovan. He shook the thought away and told himself to brighten up. He smiled at Tovan "I lovvvvvveeeee yyyyooouuuuu!!!!" he licked her face now grinning like an idiot. Silas stared at him from the other side of the cave and thought that there was no way he would ever become that love struck. He watched the hyped up Ceris for awhile and found that if he was ever put with the other pup on night watch that the pup would make it near impossible to fall asleep. I guess that's a good thing in a way. he added to himself as he settled down. He looked to Solora "Excuse me, but when you make the traps harmless could you please give them to me. I might be able to use them to our advantage..." his eyes lit up with the numerous possibilities that he could make with those traps.

Solora looked up at Silas with a sigh, though not one of impatience. " Sure, just make sure you're careful." She closed her eyes again, shuddering inwardly at the memories of her past. Tovan looked at Cain, her eyes wide with confusion. " What bit you?" She asked, her expression unchanged. She heard Blaine laugh at this from outside, and realized that Cain was perfectly fine. She pawed his ear and smiled. " I love you too." Her smile quickly faded as she realized that the air of unease was still present. A concerned look crossed her face, but she didn't say anything. " C'mon, we should patrol the camp." Blaine said, looking at Ceris. Ceris jumped around, his whole body wiggling with excitement as he orbited around Blaine. Blaine tried not to smile, and instead said, " Don't forget about those Night Beasts.." Ceris froze then glued his side to Blaine's. The two wolves walked around for a bit, the breeze whispering to the leaves the only sound that pierced the brisk night air. " W-what's that?" Ceris asked, plastered against Blaine. When there came no answer from Blaine, the pup urged on, " Is it a Night Beast?" Blaine broke out laughing at this, trying hard not to scare the animal away. " That, is a porcupine." Ceris looked confused, so Blaine went on. " It's an animal that preys on leaves and beetles. Stay away from it, because it is full of sharp dangerous quills that can bite you." The pup shivered. " What should we do?" Blaine paused, then turned away from it. " Nothing." Ceris's eyes grew wide with fear. " But what if it attacks us- what if it hurts one of us?!" Blaine tried not to laugh. " If we leave it alone, it won't kill us." Ceris obeyed and ran back to the cave. (( Blaine's such a good teacher, he's going to give Ceris mental problems..))

Cain smiled and lowered his head down to the cool earth. I love this place he thought as he watched his wolves. Silas nodded his head and caught a leaf before it hit the ground. He saw how down Solora was and made a quick decision. He moved over to her and blew on the leaf until it landed on her. "Wanna play." he asked her blowing the leaf back up and he even added a smile to his face. Suddenly, as if planned the wind picked up and hundreds of leaves came and buried Solora under them. Cain chuckled when he saw this and couldn't help, but laugh at the look of surprise on Silas's face. Cain got up feeling restless and made his way to Ceris. "What did Blaine tell you?" he said with a sigh as he saw the look of fear on the pups face.

" Nothing.." Ceris answered with a shiver, his eyes wide. Solora shook the leaves off of her with an impatient sigh. She stood up and walked over to Blaine. Blaine was on the verge of bursting out laughing. He stared at Ceris, a grin on his face as he attempted to breathe normally. " What did you do...?" Solora asked, glaring at Blaine. " Oh nothing." The grin on his face widened with the lie, and Solora shook her head. " You're so mean sometimes." Blaine scoffed at her, " And you're not?" Solora glared again, but didn't reply. " N-night beasts.." Ceris said repeatedly as he shivered. " T-they're c-coming..for m-me." Blaine couldn't take it anymore, he burst out laughing, almost to the point of tears.

"Night Beasts, eh?" Cain said grinning "Don't worry. Blaine is going to protect you. Oh and here is a secret. If you go to sleep the Night Beast can't find you. So go to sleep." he said still grinning and turned to everybody else. "Now everybody go to sleep. I don't want you all to be tired just because you didn't get enough rest." he said to them. Silas nodded seeing the logic in it and found a comfortable spot on the ground. Cain waited for everyone else and sat down refusing to relax until all of them were .

Ceris woke up to the sounds of the morning, his eyes sparkling with the anticipation of beginning a new day. (( LOL, and to think we started a new day in R with Naruk's 'happy' dream)) He made his way outside, carefully avoiding the other wolves so he wouldn't wake them up. Once he was safely outside, he allowed himself to breathe again, knowing that he had sucesfully completed his mission. Suddenly, the wind was knocked out of him and he was sent rolling towards the river. Before he could get up, he was thrown again by an unknown enemy. He whirled around, teeth bared and a growl rising up from his throat. " What, you're going to fight me now?" Croire laughed, knowing that he had thoroughly confused the pup. Ceris sat there, his head tilted to one side. " Where's the guy who attacked me?!" Croire smiled, trying hard not to laugh. " I dunno- I didn't see him.." His eyes were sincere, and his expression was one of innocence. Ceris just stared at Croire for a while, not sure of what to do next. " Well, I guess I scared him away." He said with a satisfied grin. Croire burst out laughing and pawed the pup lightly. " You sure did. I mean- if I was in a fight against you? I'd run away just from seeing the fierce, demonic, malicious look in your eyes." Ceris sat up proudly, while Croire rolled his eyes, getting annoyed that Ceris hadn't yet caught the sarcastic tone in his voice. He picked up the pup by the scruff of his neck, then dropped him into the river. Tovan awoke to the wailing cries of her child, calling out desperately for help. She instantly darted out of the cave, in search of her pup. She spotted him on the riverbank, screaming like he was bleeding to death. She rushed over to him and licked him over, trying to figure out what was wrong. When she found nothing- except the fact that he was wet- she was confused. Fortunately, Ceris had stopped his wailing, and now sat there shivering. " What happened to you?" Ceris looked up at his mother, shaking violently. " C-croire p-p-put m-me in t-the wa-wa-water." He said, looking innocent. " So you decided to scream your head off and wake everyone up because you were wet." She glared at Ceris, who was surprised by her sudden anger towards him. "B-bu-but.." Tovan glared at Ceris, then pushed him back into the river. She spotted Croire laughing behind a bush, and went over to him, making sure that he did not see her. Once directly behind him, she pounced, landing square onto his shoulders and pinning him to the ground. She bent down and whispered into his ear, " If that pup wakes me up again, I'll throw you into the river." She let him up, though reluctantly. Croire grinned at her, then ran off into the trees, desperately trying to escape.

Cain who had caught the drift o what happened went over to his pup grinning like an idiot. "One thing I have learned about your mom is that she does not like to be waken up early in the morning. I fear that if the Rebels are stupid enough to attack us in the morning your mom will kill all of them and have hell freeze over for them waking her up." he said to the shivering pup "Now get out of there and dry off in the sun. Today is going to be a beautiful day." Cain walked back to the cave to see if Silas was awake. To his surprise the pup was dead asleep still and he silently crept up on the pup. He lowered his head to scream in the pup's ear for him to wake up when out of the blue he was knocked to the ground. He looked around wildly and saw Silas grogliy getting up. Silas gave a lopsided grin " Just because I like to sleep doesn't mean I let my guard down." he said his voice slightly slurred with sleep. Cain to a moment to understand this and laughed as he realized what had happened. Silas must had knocked his feet out from under him with his hind legs. Cain grabbed the pup by his scruff just as Croire had done and carried the pup outside. After a few seconds of walking, Cain hurled the pup into the river. Silas gave out a yelp of surpise as he hit the river "HEY!" he said getting out of the river. He shook himself dry right next to Cain causing water to fly onto the pack leader. Cain laughed and went in search of Tovan. He found her instantly "Sooooo what cha want to do today?" he asked licking her face.

Tovan stared into the loving eyes of her mate and smiled. " Well, I think that we should hunt in the south side of the terriory today and try to teach Ceris about hunting and the territory. That way, Solora can be free to go to the north side and take care of the traps." Ceris bounded over to his parents and caught the words, ' Ceris', and 'hunting'. " I get to hunt!~" Ceris pranced around, a grin on his muzzle. " If you act like that, you'll scare the prey away before you get within a hundred yards of it." Solora laughed, smiling at the pup. She bowed her head to the two alphas, and took off northbound. After a few miles, she slowed to an almost complete stop, and started sniffing out traps. She took a long stick in her mouth and poked the little circle shape in the middle of a rusty trap. It closed instantly with a deadly 'SNAP!' that made Solora jump. She froze in midair, careful not to step on any of the traps around her. I need to be more careful.. she thought to herself as she steadied her breathing. She picked up another stick between her jaws and continued on with her task. A few minutes later, she was finished, and all of the traps were harmless. She recalled that Silas had asked her if he could examine the traps after she had finished, so she picked up one that had already been pulled out of the ground and brought it back to the pack. Blaine woke up to a clanging sound. Humans, he thought instantly, fearing for his pack. Wiht no regard for his own life, he rushed outside. Surprised, he found the pack safe and sound, yet Solora had one of the traps harmlessly hanging from her jaws by a metal chain. Solora walked over to Silas and dropped the trap. " I could only bring one, but the others are exactly the same." She sat down near the riverbank, sunning herself. Croire came running from the trees and jumped into the water, soaking Solora. The female glared at him for ruining her warmness, but then splashed him back, enganging herself in a water battle.

Silas yipped happily at the new 'toy' and started to immediately inspect it. He found that the trap was a fairly simple design and examined the teeth of the trap. Despite the condition of them for being left out for so long he found them to being extremely sharp. Soon after more examination Silas began to carefully take the device apart an image of what he wanted to make already formed in his head. Cain made a fake frown on his face as he noticed Ceris's excitement "Hmmm....I don't know..I'm not sure Ceris is old enough yet to go hunting." he replied to Tovan his face serious, but his eyes danced with amusement. I swear it is so much fun to yank Ceris's tail. Cain did all that he could from grinning his face off and waited to see if Tovan went along with the game.

(( xD Lmao )) Ceris's tail drooped as he stared up at his father. He looked up at him with pleading orange eyes and attempted to look cute, succeeding tremendously. " Pwease, Daddy?" Tovan looked up into the partly cloudy grey sky with a smile. Leaves danced around them as a light breeze blew, rising and falling as they pleased. She closed her eyes and breathed in the cool fresh air with a sigh. " It's going to rain tonight." She said, grinning. " That means that animals won't have to come to the steam to get water, and therefore we need everyone to hunt with us today- even Ceris. Ceris's tail wagged madly at this, and he pranced around his mother once more. Croire walked up to the pup from behind and picked him up by the scruff of his neck, making him yelp with surprise. The grey wolf eyed the smaller one located between his jaws. Suddenly, he set him on the ground and placed him paw atop him so that he couldn't move. " Hey look, I just hunted this little pup thing. Surely that'll last us a few days?" Blaine laughed at this and sat down near Croire. " I dunno, I am pretty hungry. I think I might be able to eat this pup on my own." Blaine said, licking his lips. " But this is my kill, and I won't let you have it." Blaine quickly countered, " Is that a challenge?!" The two wolves then jumped at each-other and started play fighting on the grass. Ceris took this as him chance and ran down to the bank to hide behind Solora. The young female smiled and nuzzled the pup under her chest, making sure he was kept safe from harm. " Don't worry, I'll protect you. Besides- I just ate." She motioned to the pile of fish bones to her right, and Ceris looked up at her, confused. "I'll teach you how to catch fish one day, I promise." Ceris's tail wagged slightly, and he laid against Solora, thankful that atleast one of his non-relations didn't want to devour him.

(( Yummy Ceris...))
Cain sighed "Fine I guess he can come." he stared at his pup for a couple of seconds "Croire. Blaine. There's not enough meat on him so he'd hardly be a meal. I say we get something real good..besides fish." he told them this last part mainly for Solora. Silas heard the conversation since the wind had carried it and popped up a couple feet away from Cain. He shifted and adjusted the mechanism on his paws. He had taken apart the trap and ben/flattened the teeth of it to match his paw. By doing this he created three sharp nail like parts that were strapped to his paws. He had tested them on a tree and had been satisfied what it made three deep gashes into it. He grinned ear to ear proud with himself and waited for the rest of the pack to notice them.

" Aww, " Croire said, frowning slightly, " but he looks so delicious." Blaine and Croire quickly established Solora as the ' Guardian of the Phood ' and pleaded desperately to her. " Can we have him if we don't find anything else?" Solora's eyes looked thoughtful, and she nodded slightly. Ceris yelped and hid under the older female for protection. " We get to eat you, we get to eat you!~" Croire and Blaine chanted, circling Solora repeatedly. " Only if we find nothing else, which means, if you want to live, Ceris, you'd better catch something." Ceris took this fear as modivation, and along with anticipation he became eager to get started. Suddenly, he noticed Silas's claws seemed extra long and sharp. " Whatddis dat?" He asked, curious. " Does I get hunting claws too?" He asked, his eyes glinting hopefully. Solora heard this and looked thoughtfully at the two young wolves. Strange that something so deadly and pointless can be used as a tool and resource for survival.. she thought, spacing out slightly. " Are we all ready to set out? If we wait too long, then the food will be gone." Tovan said, trying not to sound too commanding. She looked at Cain and licked his muzzle briskly. " Aww, c'mon Mommy, I wanna procwastinate so I can eatify Ceris!" Croire said, looking innocent. Solora laughed and pawed Croire's head. " But then the rest of us will starve! She's right, we should get going." She heard Croire's stomach growl and laughed as they started towards the hunting grounds. " AND WE'RE OFF!" Croire shouted as he began to run, Solora close behind him, laughing wildly.

"Duh, of course they are for you. I don't need them." Silas told Ceris rolling his eyes. He took them off and put them on the fellow pup. "Don't use this against another pack member or else you will seriously hurt them. Got it?" Silas asked. Cain started to run, but stopped seeing the two not running. He circles Ceris and grabbed him by the neck. HE ran to catch up with the others Silas laughing behind him at the picture that he made. "RWUN!" he muffled to Ceris trying to lower him to the ground as he ran. He waited for his son to start running in air so he could put him down without hurting him. (( xDD Couldn't help it. Ceris started running and then took off as he was lowered to the ground. His new claws felt strange but he liked them and was glad that Silas had given them to him. With them he felt like he might actually be able to help the pack during their hunt. A grin bloomed on his face as he ran, the wind whipping at his grey fur as he flew through the breeze. " Now I won't get eaten!~" Ceris said aloud as he ran alongside his mother. " That's what you think." Blaine and Croire said simultaneously, looking at the pup and licking their lips. Ceris stuck his tongue out at them but moved to the other side of Tovan. " Don't worry Ceris, they won't eat you while I'm around, I won't let them." Feeling safe at his mother's side, Ceris took in the wonderful new sights and smells of his territory as he ran past it. The smells were particularly entrancing, and every time he smelled a new one, he longed to learn what it was. He ignored these longing for he knew he had a mission. He had to help feed his pack. Solora's ears went up and she signaled to Tovan, who had sensed it as well. " Caribou." She said quietly. Ceris sensed the tension in his mother's voice, and immediately grew nervous and excited. Tovan decided to let Cain create the battle plan, so that Ceris would learn just how powerful and smart his father and leader were.

Cain sniffed the air and indeed it was caribou. He grinned, but his grin disappeared as a feeling that something was terribly wrong washed over him. He went to a dead stop and looked in the direction of the Lunaris pack. "What has happened?" he whispered surprised at how strong this feeling was. Silas slowed when he saw Cain suddenly stop and he turned around confused. "Cain?" he asked slightly worried because Cain looked zoned out completely. "What? Oh...yeah..um let's get closer." he started to run once more his face filled with worry. He stopped once more when they were close enough to the caribou. "All right here's the plan: Croire your going to set them running. Blaine and Solora your going to get the weakest caribou and separate it from the rest. Bring it to the small cliff that is west of us. You know the one. I doubt the caribou will die, but it will get it injured. The rest of us will be waiting at the bottom and we'll take it out there. In ten minutes, start them running Croire. Get to your positions now." he sprinted to the small cliff and assigned Silas across of him so they could get the caribou from all sides.

The wolves got into their position and waited until it was time to attack. Tovan stared at Cain, wondering what was wrong. He looked so distant and troubled. She decided that this was not the time to ask him about it, and got into position. " Mommy?" Ceris whispered, " what do I do?" The female's orange eyes met those of her pups as she shushed him. " You just keep watch for more caribou when we've got the other one where we want it. We don't want a bull charging at us unexpectedly." She whispered, keeping her head down as she laid in the brush. Ceris smiled, happy to have such an important responcibility in his pack.
After a few minutes had passed, Croire spinted out from his hiding place, alerting the herd of his presence. He howled at them and nipped at their heels as he chased them in the preferred direction. " That's right, run you little caribou! Bwahahaha!" He screamed as he ran, his eyes wild with excitement. A large female caribou with a hurt knee lagged slightly behind the rest of them, limping as it ran. Blaine looked at Solora and nodded, signaling for the attack. They set off at full speed towards it, Solora moving in between the caribou and the rest of the herd, forcing it to stray off course. Once she had it headed in the right direction, she sprung at it, her teeth leaving a large gash on it's back leg. Blaine stayed on the other side of the prey, making sure that they could control it's movements. He lunged at it, scraping its side with his claws. He spotted the face of the cliff as it rose from the horizon, and growled with delight.
" Okay Ceris, you make sure and look out for any other caribou." Tovan said as she licked her son's forehead briskly. Ceris nodded and watched as his mother tore down the hill towards the caribou, her teeth bared as she approached the soon to be meal.

Cain took off racing to the caribou that had jumped the cliff. It was stumbling to get up and reached it right as it did. He ripped at it repeatedly and saw with the corner of his eye Silas jumping in from the other side. Silas nimbly dodged leg kicks from the caribou and went for the neck. He tried to rip it, but only got a tiny tear. He was flung into the air and he landed in a bush nearby. Cain took the chance of when the caribou was distracted with Silas and ripped it's throat efficiently. The caribou struggled for a few seconds, but soon fell dead from lost of blood. Silas cursed silently and stumbled out of the bush. Cain looked at him and burst out laughing. He was covered in mud, twigs, and leaves. "I miss calculated the power of the caribou by five." he said lamely truly embarrassed by the fact that he the genius made such a mistake.

Ceris slowly followed his mother down to the kill, his mind buzzing with excitement and confusion. It had all happened so quickly, and seemed surreal. I'll never be able to do that, he thought worriedly. Croire trotted up to Silas and laughed, brushing off the twigs and helping him up. " You look like a toad." He said cheerfully. Tovan nuzzled Cain and sat down near him, motioning for Ceris to do the same. Ceris sat near his mother and got his first look at the dead caribou. His stomach lurched slightly as he spotted blood all over the ground, and -even worse- all over his father's white muzzle. He felt suddenly fearful and buried his face into his mother's side. Blaine and Croire walked side by side over to the fresh kill and whispered loudly, " I guess we won't have to eat Ceris then." " Shame, I was looking forward to it too." Ceris ignored them. I'm going to have to get used to it. I have to support my pack, and that means learning how to kill. He approached the kill with his parents and watched as the started to devour the flesh of the creature, their muzzles becoming bright red with blood. It's just meat. It's just meat, Ceris repeated, closing his eyes. I need it to survive, my pack needs it. Convinced, he tore off a piece of meat and began to chew. It tasted delicious, but a feeling of guilt entered his stomach alongside the food. Solora saw that Ceris looked a little dissapointed, and figured it was because he hadn't been able to take part in the hunt. " Don't worry, Ceris, you'll be able to hunt one day- you have a whole pack of wolves to teach you." Ceris nodded and forced a smile. His gaze dropped down to his metal claws, which he flexed into the ground. I must kill to survive. He concluded. " We should get going, it's getting dark." Tovan said, her words echoed by thunder. Ceris shivered slightly, and started home.

Cain ate very little something very unusual for him. Ceris's fake smile was as obvious as the sun on a clear day. He'd seen that fake smile on a couple of wolves he traveled with for a few days before they parted ways. He'd learn afterward that despite their cheerful disposition their best friend had died a few days previous from a human trap. Cain wasn't sure what they had done after they left him, but he found it difficult to believe that it was something good. Cain trotted up to his son, nudging Ceris softly. "How are you? Don't tell me your fine because I know you aren't." He slowed his walk until they were a good distance behind the others. Silas glanced at Cain and Ceris who had fallen behind. Must be some sort of father and son talk. Silas thought with a shrug. He never had any of those, but it didn't seem like he was missing much. His heart bloomed with pride as he thought of the metal claws he had made for Ceris. Gears switched on in his head as inventions filled his mind. Smiling like an idiot (Which he isn't), Silas started plotting his next device.

" I-I'm just a little overwhelmed is all," Ceris started, staring down at his paws, " huntings alot different then I expected." He avoided looked at his father, whose face disgusted him since it was matted and covered with dry blood. He couldn't bear to see his father's kind eyes behind such a brutal sight. Tovan glanced back at her mate and son, wondering what they were talking about. She decided to leave them alone and that she could ask Cain about it later. Croire and Blaine both held the same leg of caribou between their jaws and trotted along with grins on their faces. Solora laughed to herself and hid in the trees behind them, poising for an attack. She burst from the bushes at full speed and sped right between the two wolves, grabbing the meat between her jaws and wrenching it away from them as she ran off. Croire barkled in alarm and chased after her, snapping at her tail. Her legs were still slightly longer than the younger male's which gave her a bit of an advantage. He chased her all the way back to the cave, where they both collapsed in a heap of laughter.

Cain frowned "Alright if that's all you want to say, but Ceris." he stopped the pup "It's okay if it's a little more...brutal then you expected. Come on. Your mother will get worried if we stay to far behind." he trotted to keep up with the others. He understood what his son was going through. He had nearly thrown up during his first few hunts until he learned to hide his feelings and get use to it. He had to intentionally make himself cold for it. Sighing, he caught up to his mate in the cave. He sat down smiling slightly at Croire and Solora. "Sorry if I worried you." he licked her face appologetically.
